With pride and gratitude, I would gladly say that I was once part of Phoenix Petroleum Philippines sometime in May 2005, which was formerly named Davao Oil Terminal Services Corporation (DOTSCO). I had witnessed its growth and success in high speed. They started their first retail service station in June 2005, and had more than 50 stations towards the end of 2007. Presently, they have more than a hundred. The mounting number of stations in Southern Mindanao was just written on their business plan during that time. But with due respect, all they have planned for have materialized. The provinces that they had eyed to put up their gasoline stations are now flocked with Phoenix Petroleum service stations. Everytime I pass by these stations, I can’t help but get astonished because the said plan turned out to be real and tangible. And they are more than just a gasoline station. They render services which are scarcely found in other stations. Their 24-hour convenience store named NEST (Necessities of Life) makes household needs and other necessities available just when you need it. They also have a pawnshop booth (amazing!) and an ATM, to purposefully make our lives easy despite our frenzied schedule. I really look up to their leaders because they genuinely stood by their goals, and were able to achieve them. With petroleum as their first product line, they also engaged in services such as into-plane services where they cater refueling requirements of airlines, hauling, leasing of storage space in their terminal, lubricants, and car care. They even acquired their own vessel and trucks. But they are not solely for business. Abiding by their trademark “Phoenix Fuels Life,” they uphold the value of stewardship, service for the community, and empowerment of the less fortunate. In accordance with their intention of lifting up the quality of life, they have put up Phoenix Petroleum Foundation, Inc. and had involved themselves in feeding programs, reach-out programs, donation to landslide victims, and International Coastal Clean-up.
